Montfort Senior Secondary School

Montfort Senior Secondary School, Delhi, is an unaided Christian minority school administered by the Society of the Brothers of St. Gabriel. It has a branch located in Ashok Vihar, New Delhi. The institution was established in the year 1970. The school is named after Saint Louis de Montfort, a French priest and Catholic saint. It is a co-educational school and is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The School is recognised by the Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi (CBSE). The students are prepared for All-India Secondary and Senior Secondary Examinations conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi.

Presently Bro. Monachan K.K. is the principal of Montfort School, Delhi.


Society of Brothers St. Gabriel

Montfort Senior Secondary School is a Catholic minority unaided institution run by the registered Society of the Brothers of St. Gabriel with its headquarters at Rome and zonal headquarters in Bhopal. The society has institutions spread all over the globe in 33 countries. The Society runs about 120 institutions including schools, technical training institutes, orphanages, institutions for the differently abled (deaf, dumb and blind) and homes for the aged. The Society is also engaged in rural development programs and other programs for empowering the urban poor through Peoples’ Initiative Network.

Campus and Infrastructure

As of 2015, the school has an intake of 152 students in pre-nursery. Min age of admission is 3+ years. Admission process generally starts in month of January. Most of the classes have 4 sections each with every section having a strength of about 40 students. Annual fees ( as of 2015) is in the range of Rs. 45,000 to Rs. 50,000 per annum. School provides no transportation facility though, and parents have to arrange transportation on their own. Sub-head of fees charged are monthly Tuition Fees, annual charges, development charges & Registration fees.

A beautiful fountain adorning the statute of the founder of the Society of the Brothers of St. Gabriel, St. Louis Marie de Montfort, finds a pride of place at the end of the drive way at the entrance to the school buildings, surrounded by beautiful seasonal flowers, and is the centre of attraction for all students, parents and visitors.

The school can boast of well maintained, well designed and well constructed school buildings of its own, with the main building at the very centre with a unique architecture, built on a 6.41 acre plot dotted with lovely green trees along the boundary. There are 180 rooms including 56 classrooms, the admin offices, five furnished staff rooms and four supervisors offices spread out on different floors, a large library for the middle and senior classes, a library cum reading room for the primary students, three computer labs, separate labs for Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Maths, two language labs, a room for eco-club, two art/ drawing rooms, three music rooms with a variety of musical instruments, two dance rooms, two spacious auditoriums/ halls fitted with hi-tech audio-visual systems to organize various activities. The school also has a swimming pool which is actively used by students during summer months

The teaching-learning process is enhanced with the help of Edu-comp Smart Classes provided for all the classes from Pre-School to Class XII with the latest software.

The school also runs a smaller preparatory school in Shalimar Bagh, Delhi by the name of Montfort Nursery. However, as per the latest rules there is no special privilege accorded to students passing out of the nursery school in Shalimar Bagh for admission to main school in Ashok Vihar.

Faculty

The school boast of 14 P.G.T., 33 T.G.T. and 40 P.R.T. Teachers, as of 2012. The school has a competent faculty that believes in nurturing their students in a holistic manner. Teachers have been recognized at various levels for their contribution to the growth of their students.

Academia

The school boasts of strong academic standards. Students of Montfort have emerged among the best in the state as well as the nation in the past. The school has alumni who have studied at various reputed institutions such as the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, St. Stephen's College, Shri Ram College of Commerce and Indian Institutes of Technology, besides various universities in different countries. The student-teacher relation is marked by an atmosphere of intellectual development and application of ideas and concepts learnt in class. The higher secondary school has 4 branches of study: the Medical, Non-Medical, Commerce (with Mathematics) and Commerce (without Mathematics). There are a number of awards and scholarships to recognize outstanding achievements in academics.

The school has a vibrant club system that comprises societies such as Music Club and Dramatics Club. Clubs such as the Computer Club and the Nature Club have won laurels for the school at various inter-school competitions and national as well as international levels.

Converge Clan is the school's computer club. The club has won various competitions at various levels. Students have done well at competitive examinations such as the Olympiads and NSTSE. Students from Montfort had been National-level participants at the National Children's Science Congress for 15 consecutive years in a stretch. Montfortian students have represented India in international events/conferences in Geneva, Switzerland and Manila, Philippines.

Recognition

The school shared the honor of being the "Best School in North Delhi" in the Hindustan Times Survey 2010 with DPS Rohini. It also stood at no.2 in 2012 & at no. 4 in 2013 as per Hindustan Times- C fore Top Schools Survey for North Delhi schools
