Moorabool is a closed railway station on the Geelong–Ballarat railway line, in the locality of Moorabool, Victoria, Australia. It was originally known as Steiglitz Road until 1864,[1] and is located east of another heritage structure, the Moorabool Viaduct. The station is no longer served by passenger services, being passed by freight trains and The Overland.
The station building was built in 1861, by a private contractor for the Victorian Railways, and comprises a single storey gable roofed basalt station building, with two storey residence attached. The station was closed to all traffic on 21 December 1976,[2] and in 1977, the station buildings were sold, and currently serve as a private residence.[3] The buildings are listed on the Victorian Heritage Register[4] and the Register of the National Estate.
