Mother's Choice (Chinese: 母親的抉擇) is a local non-profit organization in Hong Kong that provides and promotes loving, nurturing care for babies and children needing permanent homes, and for single girls and their family facing crisis pregnancies. The organization was founded in 1987 by a small group of people concerned with the plight of Hong Kong’s single teenagers and their family members coping with crisis pregnancy. Today, Mother’s Choice continues to impact the lives of thousands in the community through their four services.[1]
- Vision: No girl or baby is left alone.
- Mission: Joining hands with the community to transform lives and give hope.
Services
Mother’s Choice takes a holistic approach to their four services to ensure all clients’ needs are met be it physical, social, medical, educational or legal.
Pregnant Girls Services
Mother's Choice provides a safe and non-judgmental environment for young girls and their families facing crisis pregnancies where they can make informed choices for themselves and their babies. Their holistic services include a hotline, counseling and a hostel for those needing a place to stay during their pregnancy. Community education is also critical to their mission—they deliver sex education knowledge and information to young people, teachers and parents in the form of school talks, workshops and their bilingual website.[2]
Child Care Home
Their team of professional staff and volunteers from across the community provide loving and nurturing care for babies and children in their Child Care Home awaiting a permanent home. In their Baby Care section, they care for up to 32 babies at any time ranging from newborn to 2 years old. In their Wee Care section, we care for up to 12 children from newborn to 6 years old with a wide range of special needs.[3]
Adoption Services
Mother’s Choice believes that every child deserves a loving and permanent family to call their own. In collaboration with the Social Welfare Department of Hong Kong, they provide local and international adoption services and advocate for their babies and children to join their forever families as soon as possible.[4]
Foster Care Services
They provide temporary residential family care to children under 18 years of age whose parents cannot adequately care for them due to various reasons. At Mother's Choice, they care for 80 children under their Foster Care services and help each of them to develop loving, caring relationships and receive proper nurturing until they reunite with their birth families, join an adoptive family or live independently.[5]

Sister Organizations
Mother’s Choice have inspired sister organizations across Asia who share the same passion to help young girls and babies in desperate need of love and care. They support them by providing training and encouragement.
Radiant Hope (Guangxi, China)
Formerly known as Mother’s Love, Radiant Hope shelters and cares for special needs children and advocates and cares for HIV-positive orphans.[6]
Mother's Hope (Nagaland, India)
With a mission of ‘rebuilding hope’, Mother’s Hope was started in 2001 in Dimapur, Nagaland, India to provide unconditional love to pregnant girls undergoing crisis pregnancies who are often victims of rape or incest. Mother’s Hope also provide and promote loving, nurturing care for newborn and infants needing permanent home and became the first in the state to make adoption possible.[7]
Mother's Heart (Phnom Penh, Cambodia)
Mother’s Heart was founded in 2010 by Katrina Gliddon and a small-dedicated team to respond to the lack of choice for women in Cambodia facing unplanned pregnancies. Many women in Cambodia come from extremely vulnerable situations – trafficking, sexual abuse, HIV and poverty are real issues today. Many will die from unsafe abortions and others that continue with their pregnancy are often ostracized from their families, community and live in poverty. There are no social services existing within Cambodia to help these women.[8]
