The Motor City Chiefs are a USA Hockey-sanctioned Tier III Junior B ice hockey team that plays in the Great Lakes Junior Hockey League (GLJHL). The team plays their home games at the Canfield Ice Arena in Dearborn Heights, Michigan.[1] The players, ages 16–20, carry amateur status under Junior B guidelines and hope to earn a spot on higher levels of junior ice hockey in the United States and Canada, Canadian Major Junior, Collegiate, and eventually professional teams.
The Chiefs organization previously fielded a Tier III Junior A ice hockey team in the Central States Hockey League and also fields select youth teams at the Squirt, Bantam, Midget Minor U16, and Midget Major U18 and girls program set to begin for the 2010-11 season at the U12, U14, U16 levels.[2][3]
Alumni
The Chiefs have had many alumni move on to higher levels of junior ice hockey, NCAA Division I, Division III, ACHA College, at professional levels.[4][5]
