Agonostomus monticola (Spanish vernacular: dajao, trucha de tierra caliente; English vernacular: mountain mullet) is a freshwater fish of the Mugilidae family in the Mugiliformes order.[2] It can be found in North and South America, from North Carolina, Florida, Louisiana and Texas in the USA to Colombia and Venezuela, including the West Indies in the Antilles.[3] It is common in the Toro Negro State Forest in central Puerto Rico.[4]
