The Mountain West Conference (MW) Men's Basketball Player of the Year is a basketball award given to the Mountain West Conference's most outstanding player. The award was first given following the 1999–00 season—the first year of the conference's existence. As of 2015, no player has received the award multiple times. Two winners of the conference award were consensus national Players of the Year—Andrew Bogut of the University of Utah in 2004–05 and Jimmer Fredette of Brigham Young University (BYU) in 2010–11.
Through 2016, BYU has the most winners with five, with New Mexico and Utah in second place with four. The only current conference members with a winner are New Mexico with four, San Diego State with three, and Air Force, Boise State and Wyoming with one each (BYU and Utah both left for other conferences in 2011). The remaining six all-sports members are yet to have a winner, but only two—Colorado State and UNLV—are charter Mountain West members (the rest all joined in 2011 or later).
