Moyo, is the main municipal, administrative, and commercial center of Moyo District in the Northern Region of Uganda. The district headquarters are located here.

Location

Moyo is located approximately 455 kilometres (283 mi), by road, north-west of Kampala, Uganda's capital and largest city.[1] This is about 140 kilometres (87 mi), by road, north-east of Arua, the largest town in the West Nile sub-region.[2] The border with South Sudan is only 7 kilometres (4.3 mi), by road, north of the town. The coordinates of the town are 3°39'18.0"N, 31°43'12.0"E (Latitude 3.6550; Longitude:31.7200).[3]

Population

The 2002 national census estimated the population of Moyo at 12,070. In 2010, the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) estimated the population at 22,000. In 2011, UBOS estimated the mid-year population at 23,700.[4]
