Muhamad Rasat Muhamad

This is a Malay name; the name Muhamad is a patronymic, not a family name, and the person should be referred to by the given name, Muhamad Rasat.

Professor Dato' Dr. Muhamad Rasat Muhamad (19532015) was the third president of the Multimedia University (MMU) in Malaysia. He took office on 1 January 2011, after his predecessor Zaharin Yusoff left office late in December 2010. He was previously a deputy vice-chancellor of University Malaya.[1] In 2008, he was awarded the title of Dato' by Sultan Azlan Shah of Perak.[2]

A scientist, Muhamad Rasat received a doctorate from the University of Durham after being an undergraduate at National University of Malaysia. He later researched under fellowships at Cambridge University and the Tokyo Institute of Technology.[3]

Muhamad Rasat died on 12 October 2015 at the age of 62 after experiencing shortness of breath. He was buried at the Bukit Kiara Muslim Cemetery, Kuala Lumpur.
