Ch. Muhammad Iqbal Gujjar Son of CH Sultan Ahmed (born on July 6, 1943 in India) is a prominent national politician, parliamentarian and Chairperson in a Privilege Community in the 2013 Sharif-led cabinet from Pakistan Muslim League (N). A key Member of Parliament in Pakistan and a lawyer by profession.
Chaudhry Muhammad Iqbal is married and has seven children.
Political career
He started his political career from Lahore as a student activist in his young age. After he completed his degree from Government college, he showed his interest towards politics. He contested in union council elections and served as chairman of Gujranwala as well. Later on he was elected as a member of the Provisional Assembly of Pakistan (MPA). He was elected to the Punjab Assembly of Pakistan for the terms of 1985-88, 1988–90, 1990–93, 1993–96 and 1997–99 and 2002-2007 and 2013 – present. At his tenure as MPA, many social, economical, educational and infrastructure developments were carried out in his constituency and Gujranwala. He served as Provisional Minister Since 1985 till 2007. He had been given ministry throughout these years. Now he is serving as a chairman of standing committee of Privilege. He represented Pakistan on numerous occasions and international forums like 42nd CPA Conference. He played a vital rule in Punjab's Politics. he has functioned as Minister for Revenue, Minister for Irrigation & Power, Minister for Information, Minister for Agriculture, Minister for Education, Minister for Food, Minister for health and as Special Assistant to Chief Minister during these periods, and all other main ministries and important offices. He has returned to Punjab Assembly for the 7th consecutive term in General Elections. Now he is declared as Most senior MPA of assembly who has won the MPA General Elections the most. In 2013 General elections he won by the 2nd largest margin.
