Multimedia Development Corporation
The Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC - previously known as MDC) is a government-owned institution responsible for the management of the Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC Malaysia) in Malaysia as a technology industry and commerce zone.
The MDeC is charged with:
- attracting international ICT (Information & Communication Technology) businesses to set up shop in the MSC Malaysia, and providing them technical and administrative assistance in doing so
- engender relationships between MSC Malaysia businesses
- attracting talented ICT professionals to work in the MSC Malaysia
- connect new business operations with quality employees (through its KWX subsidiary)
- manage the digital infrastructure of the MSC Malaysia area (through its MSCTC subsidiary) and security (through its Trustgate subsidiary, which is also a commercial service)
- encourage investment in MSC Malaysia businesses (through its MSCVC subsidiary)
- advise the government on the development of technology-related laws
- maintain the MSC Malaysia's commercial and residential services
- assist other nations in National ICT Initiatives through its subsidiary, MSC Technology Centre
The board of directors of the MDeC include major Southeast Asian technology investors, as well as the Malaysian Secretaries-General of the Treasury, Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, and Ministry of Energy, Water and Communications|Energy and Communications.
