Murbad is a census town in Thane district in the Indian state of Maharashtra near Thane and Karjat. Murbad is an industrial town with private and MIDC.Murbad is within administrative division of (taluka) of thane district. Murbad city and neighboring villages jointly from the Murbad nagarpanchayt.

Murbad is located at 19°15′N 73°24′E / 19.25°N 73.4°E / 19.25; 73.4.[1] It has an average elevation of 83 metres (272 feet). Nearest towns are Karjat and kalyan Climate - Climate of Murbad is hot and humid. There are three main seasons are occurred in Murbad. Murbad is encircled by Shahapur Taluka towards North, with Ambernath Kalyan and Ulhasnagar Taluka towards West, nearby cities Ambernath, Ulhasnagar, Kalyan, and Dombivli.Murbad Taluka is sharing its Boundary with Ahmednagar District North East and on East Pune District Boundary

Due to Sahyadri mountain rainfall is very heavy.

Rivers- Murbadi, Kalu, Shai are the major rivers of Murbad. All rivers are flowing toward west. All rivers are seasonal.

As of 2001, India census,[2] Murbad had a population of 15,823. Males constitute 54% of the population and females 46%. Murbad has an average literacy rate of 73%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 80%, and female literacy is 65%. In Murbad, 15% of the population is under 6 years of age.

The nearest airport is Chattarpati Shivaji international airport in Mumbai. The nearest railway station is kalyan, which is 80 km from Mumbai CST on the Central railway line. Murbad lies on the Kalyan to Ahmednagar National Highway (No.222). Roads- Murbad-Malshej state highway(222) is in good condition but as compared to this highway, village roads are to be developed.

Murbad taluka is settled inside the Sahyadri natural depression of Hills that encompasses a natural beauty and has been developed as a traveller place. Historical event is "Mhasa Jatra" a, lacs of devotees visited annually.

Malshej ghat- with average height of 700 mts[1] is situated in Pune district near the borders of Thane and Ahmednagar districts. During months of June-Sept, Malshej Ghat comes alive when innumerable waterfalls abound the area. Malshej Ghat area is also well visited by local hikers, trekkers and adventure lovers during monsoon. Malshej Ghat is home to exotic flamingos who migrate here during winter.

Fort Siddhagad -This is old age hill fort established by Shilahaar royal family in 9th century. The Central top of this fort is also exciting and tough to climb, must visit this fort in winter and summer. There is tomb of freedom fighter and martyr Bhai Kotwal at base in south of this fort. This hill fort had tallest height to climb in all forts in Maharashtra and is about 910 meters.

Murbad has industrial areas of MIDC 1) Murbad 2) Additional Murbad. They host a number of industries. The Murbad Manufacturers Association is the association representing the industries before various authorities for problems faced by the industry.
