Muricanthus is a genus of sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks in the family Muricidae, the murex snails or rock snails.[2]
The name Muricanthus has become a synonym of Hexaplex (Muricanthus) Swainson, 1840 represented as Hexaplex Perry, 1810
