MusicRadio China Top Chart Awards
MusicRadio China Top Chart Awards(Chinese:MusicRadio中国TOP排行榜颁奖典礼),is an annual Chinese Pop Music awards ceremony, created by CHINA NATIONAL RADIO in 2003. The awards are awarded on the basis of votes by a poll of the public and fans, who can usually vote through websites or via SMS.
History and overview
The first two ceremonies used to be called Music IN China Pop Chart Awards (Chinese:Music IN中国歌曲排行榜颁奖晚会).[1] From 2005, it is officially called as MusicRadio China Top Chart Awards.
Conception
The Awards was created by China national radio in 2003 while Sprite sponsored China's Original Music Charts and Pepsi sponsored Top Chinese Music Awards made tremendous success. Like other Chinese well known Chinese music awards at that time, for instance, China Music Awards, Chinese Music Radio Awards, Top Chinese Music Awards, tend to equalize mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan singers'accoludes by setting up reginal awards, especially for awards ceremony with governmental background, when mainland started connectting both Hong Kong, Taiwan and the rest of the world after 1999's transfer of sovereignty over Hong Kong.
The categories followed China's Original Music Charts that first started setting up reginal awards for HongKong and Taiwan artists. After that, multiple similar Chinese Pop music awards ceremonies sprung up.
Although the same titled radio program gained popularities in mainland China during 1990s and 2000s. Most mainstream pop singers still take it important to receive accoludes.
