My Story is the debut studio album by Nigerian recording artist Iyanya, released in 2009 by CN Media.[1] The album was available for purchased on iTunes.[2] Production was handled by ID Cabasa, OJB Jezereel, K-Solo, and Tee Y Mix.[2] M.I, Faze, DJ Zeez, Bokwilla and Ugly made guest appearances on the album.[1]
Background and recording
Iyanya began recording his debut album after winning the 2008 MTN Project Fame West Africa competition.[3]
Promotion and release
On October 4, 2009, Iyanya hosted a concert dubbed the "Symphony of Iyanya" to celebrate the release of the album. The concert was held at Ultima Studios in Omole, Lagos.[4]
Musical style
The album is strictly R&B with the exception of a few African hip hop and reggae sounds from the likes of M.I, Bokwilla, and DJ Zeez.[4]
Singles
- "No Time" was released as the debut single from the album. It features vocals from Nigerian R&B artist Faze.[5]
- "Love Truly" is the second single from the album. The music video for the single was shot in Nigeria. The song displays Iyanya's vocal abilities.[6]
- "Iyanya (My Story)" was released as the third single from the album. The music video for the song was shot in South Africa.[7]
