N. Anbuchezhian
N.Anbuchezhian,MA.,Ex.MP.,Ex.M.L.A., is an Indian politician from Tamil Nadu. He was elected Member of Parliament of Dindigul constituency during 1967 -1971.[1] He was the first non-Congress MP of this constituency, representing Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK).Mr.N.Anbuchezhian defeated his rival candidate T. S. Soundram representing congress with a huge margin of over one lakh votes,T. S. Soundram was the seating M.P from the constituency and Union Deputy Minister for Education in Nehru Government,she was daughter of famous industrialist T. V. Sundaram Iyengar of Tvs group. He is an M.A graduate, who was hand-picked by C. N. Annadurai, the founder of DMK. During the year 1971-76 he was also the Member of the Legislative Assembly from Periyakulam (State Assembly Constituency) where he defeated Chinnasamy Chettai of Indian National Congress by a margin of 9,595 votes.He he was elected as Chairman, Batlagundu Panchayat Union during 1971-76 defeating Indian National Congress candidate Mr.Radhakrishna Chettiar.
Early life
N. Anbuchezhian was born in Sekkapatti Village in Madurai district,Today's part of Dindigul Dt, on 1 November 1936. His father A. Neelamegam Pillai was an agriculturist. He studied at Virudhunagar Hindu Nadar's Senthikumara Nadar College, Virudhunagar; then in Sir Theagaraya College, Madras; finally in Pachaiappas College pursued M.A. He was elected to the fourth Lok sabha as an M.P at an age of 31.[2]
