Narayan Holiyappa Gouda (1938–1992) was a M.L.A to the Karnataka state Legislative Assembly, Bangalore from 1985-1989;[1] He was elected from the Janata Dal. That time Ramakrishna Hegde from the Janata party was the Chief Minister of Karnataka.

Early life

Born and raised in a Halakki Vokkaliga family of Gonehalli village,[2] Narayan completed his high school (1954–55) from the A. H. School, Bankikodla. He earned his B.A.(1959) from Kanara College, Kumta and joined the A. H. School, Bankikodla as a teacher. Gouda was an able teacher.

Political career

In 1985, he contested for Karnataka state legislative assembly on a ticket from the Janata party with the symbol negilu hotta raita and won the election with a good margin. After his tenure as a M.L.A, he resumed his job back at A. H. School, Bankikodla. He later contested again and lost the seat to the Karnataka state legislative assembly. In 1992, he died of a heart attack.
