Current season

NAASCU Season 15 is the current season of the National Athletic Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities. The opening ceremonies was conducted on September 4, 2015 at the Cuneta Astrodome, in Pasay City, following the games between CEU Scorpions against NEU Hunters and PCU Dolphins versus CUP Eagles. Iglesia ni Cristo-owned New Era University will served as the host for this season. The season's motto will be "Education Thru Sports."[4][5] Mister and Miss NAASCU will be crowned on the opening ceremonies, while PBA Commissioner Chito Narvasa was invited to become the guest speaker.[6]

Background

Aside from NEU, other universities and colleges that will joined the year-long season will be Centro Escolar University, Saint Clare of Caloocan, Diliman College, Rizal Technological University, Our Lady of Fatima University, City University of Pasay and Philippine Christian University, who used to be part of the NCAA few years back until they suspended.

Basketball will be the primary sport for the first semester, with games being held at Cuneta and the Makati Coliseum. The NAASCU board changed the basketball format this season, with 8 teams compete in a single round-robin elimination, after this, the top 2 teams will advance to the semifinals, while the 4 of them, will go straight to the quarterfinals.

This year, NAASCU will be partnering with ATC Sports on IBC 13 for the broadcast coverage of the games that will air on the evening timeslot on Monday and Thursday. Aside from NAASCU, Cebu-based CESAFI's basketball games were also part of IBC 13's programming.[5]
