National Digital Crime Resource & Training Centre (NDCRTC) has been set up in Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) in association with C-DAC Hyderabad and C-DAC Thiruvananthapuram as a 2-year “Project” with funding fom Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY), Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Government of India. This Centre will be training about 2000 officers from State Police, CPOs and other LEAs of Central Government, Digital Forensic Experts of CFSL and State FSL, Judges and Prosecutors during this project period. The main objective of this Centre is to build capacity in the field of Cyber Crime Investigation and creating Master Trainers in this field among all wings of Criminal Justice System of the Country in association with all agencies of State as well as Central Government working in this field. During the project period, this Centre is being governed by a Governing Body headed by Director, NPA and representatives of C-DAC Hyderabad, CBI, NIA and State Police. The Governing body will be assisted by Technical Advisory Body, composed of domain experts from Police, other LEAs, Forensic Science Departments and Industry. Main focus of this centre at present is on Digital Forensics. However, in future it will also focus on IT Act, Digital Evidence, Malware Analysis and Cyber Security. The long term vision is to make this Centre a “Center of Excellence” in the field of Cyber Crime Investigation Training in the country. Governance structure of the Centre after 2 years project period will be decided on the basis of its evolution in this period.
