Nanos Scientificae (Nanos SCI.) is a nanotechnology spin out company from Jožef Stefan Institute headquartered in Ljubljana. It specializes in production and development of magnetic nanoparticles and nanoparticle clusters for research use and customer-oriented products for applications in nanophotonics, NEMS, biosensors and biomedicine.

Superparamagnetic nanoparticles or nanoparticle clusters show no magnetic remanence. They are therefore non-magnetic when outside an external magnetic field. That is crucial in preparation of the stable suspensions because the superparamagnetic nanoparticles do not magnetically agglomerate. When placed into the magnetic field they behave similar to ordinary magnetic materials.

Products

Maghemite nanoclusters (size 70-150 nm) composed of a number of single SuperParamagnetic Iron Oxide Nanoparticles (sSPIONs™) display much larger magnetic moments needed in applications involving manipulation with magnetic field. iNANOvative™ nanoclusters form ordered structures along the direction of the external magnetic field with a regular interparticle spacing on the order of hundreds of nanometers resulting in strong diffraction of visible light in suspension.

A homogeneous dispersion of single superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (maghemite) in amine-modified polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS). Suitable for mold-castiog of solid (elastomer) magnetic microparticles of desired shape and size for application in NEMS, microfluidics or biochips.
