Narayan Das (born 25 September 1993) is an Indian footballer who plays as a left back for FC Goa in the I-League. A regular for his I-League side, Narayan garnered much praise for his excellent stamina, pace and forward arrays from his full-back position during the 2014 Indian Super League.
Career
Pailan Arrows
Das made his debut for Pailan Arrows on 28 October 2012 against Salgaocar, coming on as a half-time substitute for Pritam Kotal, and was booked in the 72nd minute as Arrows drew the match 0–0.[4] Das scored the first goal of his career on 18 November 2012 against Prayag United at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata, West Bengal in the 84th minute to equalize for Pailan Arrows, however a Lalkamal Bhowmick goal in the 88th minute gave Prayag a 2-1 win.[5] He then scored his second goal of his career in the next match against Sporting Goa on 23 November 2012 in the 54th minute to give Pailan Arrows a 1–0 victory away from home at the Fatorda Stadium in Goa, and was booked in the 34th minute.[6]
Dempo
Das signed for Dempo on 26 October 2013, on loan from IMG Reliance with three other players Alwyn George, Pronay Halder and Holicharan Narzary.[7] He made his debut for Dempo in the I-League on 1 November 2013 against Mohun Bagan at the Duler Stadium and played the whole match as Dempo drew the match 0–0.[8]
FC Goa (loan)
Narayan Das represented FC Goa in the 2014 Indian Super League. He was a regular, starting all of their league games and was praised for his excellent stamina, attacking intent, agility and pace from his coach Zico as well as the pundits and the media.[9] Narayan was injured during the first leg of the semi-final versus Atletico de Kolkata[10] and subsequently missed the 2014-15 Federation Cup and the entire 2014-15 I-League season.
Narayan was signed up by FC Goa again for the 2015 ISL season, on loan from Dempo despite missing the entire 2014-15 I-League season.[11]
Kingfisher East Bengal
Das joined East Bengal on 12 January 2016 on a three year contract.[12]
International
Narayan made his under-19 international debut on 31 October 2012 against Turkmenistan during the 2012 AFC U-19 Championship qualifiers where he played the full 90 matches in a match that India won 3–1.[13]
He then made his under-23 international debut on 23 June 2012 during the 2013 AFC U-22 Asian Cup qualifiers against the Lebanon U23s, playing the full 90 minutes and being booked in the 26th minute, as India won the match 5–2.[14]
On 19 November 2013, Das made his senior debut for India against Nepal, becaming the 476th Indian to make debut for national team.
