Nate Howard
Nate Howard is an African-American poet and activist,[1] who in February 2016 was honored as one of NBCNews' 28 NBCBLK28 talented innovators and game changers 28 years old and younger.[2]
Career
Howard is the founder of Movement BE, a non-profit focused on empowerment through poetry.[3]
In 2013, he helped lead a protest fighting against racial profiling at USC that landed him on the front page of the Los Angeles Times. In 2014 he was arrested in a racial profiling case in San Jose [4][5] to which he was found guilty, but later appealed.[6]
He also has recorded poetic intros for artist Ty Dolla Sign. He most recently wrote the intro for Free TC, featured on the track LA with Kendrick Lamar and Brandy. [7] Earlier in life, he acted in Mithaq Kazimi's film playing Tony Hicks, the first juvenile that was sentenced as an adult in State of California.[8]
