Nathan Ross is an American Film Producer and former Talent Agent. He is an Indiana University Alumni and John Marshall Law School Graduate.[1]
Career
Film
Recent work includes executive producer on Dallas Buyers Club (starring Matthew McConaughey, Jennifer Garner, and Jared Leto.[2][3] ) along side his directing partner, whom he also manages, Jean-Marc Vallée.[3][4] It was released by Focus Features on November 1, 2013 and won three Academy Awards (including Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor) and was nominated for six in total.
He was also executive producer on Wild (starring Reese Witherspoon and Laura Dern) and directed by Vallée for Fox Searchlight, which was released on December 3, 2014.[5]
As reported in November 2014, his next project, Get It While You Can, which will star Amy Adams as Janis Joplin with Vallée directing, is in development as of the second half of 2015.[6][7][8]
Ross' next film release will be Demolition, which Vallée also directed, with Jake Gyllenhall, Naomi Watts, and Chris Cooper for Fox Searchlight. It is scheduled to be released the first half of 2016.[9][10][11]
Television
Ross is currently working on an HBO series, Big Little Lies, an adaptation of Liane Moriarty’s 2014 darkly comic novel about three mothers of kindergartners, starring Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon. Laura Dern, Adam Scott, Zoë Kravitz and Kathryn Newton co-star.[12]
Additionally Ross is executive producer along side Jean-Marc Vallee on an adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s debut thriller novel Sharp Objects, the project is currently in pre-production.[13] The project has landed at HBO with an eight-episode straight-to-series first season order, starring Amy Adams.[14]
Early career
Prior to producing, Ross was a motion picture agent at ICM Partners from 2003-2010 - primarily representing directors and screenwriters for film.[1][15][16][17] He was profiled by The Hollywood Reporter in November 2008 in their "Next Gen 35 Under 35", which recognizes entertainment executives in their yearly issue.[17][18]
