History

The National Foundation for Cancer Research (NFCR) was founded in 1973 to support cancer research. The charity has donated over $350 million to support cancer research scientists over its 40-year history. To date the organization has been known as one of the least effective cancer charities in America and has been given only 2 out of 5 stars by Charity Navigator. [1]

Supported Scientists

NFCR supports 25 cancer research scientists in the United States.

Among them is Laurence J.N. Cooper, M.D., Ph.D. Dr. Cooper's innovative research is focusing on developing a novel immunotherapy which kills leukemia and lymphoma cells by boosting a patient's own immune attack.[2]

Controversies

Founding board member, John Slye, was charged with being part of a scheme to bilk investors in an investment fund based in California.[3]
