National Highway 223 (NH 223), otherwise known as the Great Andaman Trunk Road, connects Port Blair and Diglipur in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. It covers a distance of 360 km (220 mi).[1]
Populated towns en route Kadamtala, Billiground, Rangat and Mayabunder.
Ordered closure
Due to human safaris for visiting the Jarawa people occurring on the road, Calcutta high court ordered its closure but the Indian supreme court ordered the road to be open with some limitations, however the Andaman administration is looking for an alternative route by boat.[2]
