Nayak (title)
Nayak is a title used by various castes and ethnic groups across India. Alternative spellings and variations include Nayaka, Nayakar, Nayagar, Nayakkar, Naik, Naiker, Naicker, Naickan, Naiken, Nayakkan, Nayan, Nayar, Nayanar, Nair, Naidu, Nayudu and Naidoo'.[1]
In Kerala, the term Nair, Nayar, Nayanar etc. is said to be the adoption of the Sanskrit word Nayaka in Malayalam.[1]
