Nazir Ahmad Laway (born 5 November 1963 in Hanad Chawalgam, Kulgam district in India) is the Member of Parliament representing the state of Jammu & Kashmir in Rajya Sabha. He is the son of Late Ghulam Mohammad Laway who was considered to be a great intellectual of the area in his times. He belongs to a Political Family as his Uncle Advocate Habibullah Laway was a senior political leader and a close aide of Former Prime Minister of India, Smt. Indra Gandhi. He failed to win the Assembly elections in 2008 and 2014 by a small margin against his contender. Nazir Ahmad Laway is considered to be the most loyal worker of Mufti Mohammad Syed, the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and is known for his proximity with the party top brass.[1]

He was elected to Rajya Sabha from state of Jammu and Kashmir on the ticket of PDP in February 2015.[2]

Nazir Ahmad Laway is presently concentrating on the development of infrastructure at educational institutions and Hospitals in the state. it has been seen that most of the funds out of his MPLAD have been diverted towards these purposes. He is a popular leader when it comes to public relations as he is always available for public meetings even during snowy winter seasons. He is considered to be the grassroot politician who even after becoming the Member of Parliament has been found to be present in his home constituency and meeting common masses without any hindrance. He is making a visible effort to shun the VIP culture in the Country.

Nazir Ahmad Laway is one of those few leaders of Kashmir who always are in touch with the Kashmiri Pandits and plead for their viable return to the valley. He has been in association with Kashmiri Pandits for a long time.
