Nefastus Dies is a black/death metal band from Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

History

The band formed in summer 2005 and two months later, released their promo cd 'Prelude'. They then embarked on a promotional tour to support the recording in January 2006. In March 2006 they entered Yannick St-Amand's studio to record their first full-length album 'Urban Cancer'. They then signed with an underground label but quickly realised that this label did not have the proper resources to promote this album. The band bought back every copy the label had printed and bought out the contract to seek out a more adequate label. The band went out and played several shows including their first American/Canadian tour. This got the attention of UKs Siege of Amida Records who signed them. Urban Cancer was then released through SOARs American partner Candlelight USA. In early 2009 the band released a 2 song Promo EP entitled `Interlude` exclusively over the internet. Shortly after this, singer and main composer Seb Painchaud decided to leave the band citing lack of devotion and wanting to focus on his other projects as a bassist, The Last Felony & Vatican, as well as start a studio/solo project so he could have total creative control over the songs that were supposed to appear on the band's 2nd album.
