Nejib Belhedi (Arabic: نجيب بالهادي) (born July 25, 1952 in Sfax) is a Tunisian long-distance open-water swimmer.
Achievements
1. English Channel (England to France) on September 15-16, 1993 in 16 hours 35 minutes, a swim on the highest tide under Force 4 conditions. 2. Cap bon - La Marsa, 45K on May 30, 1992 in 11 hours 14 minutes. 3. 24 hours non-stop in a swimming pool in Tataouine on July 6-7, 1993. Total distance swam 51.577 kilometers. 4. Sicilian Channel from Pantelleria to Kelibia, 72K on June 17, 1995. Swim was stopped after 17 hours due to numerous jellyfish stings. 5. La Galite Channel in Tunisia on July 31, 1999 from La Galite Island to Cap Serrat, 40K in 7 hours 15 minutes. 7. Title of the World Performance of the year 2011 for his marathon 1400 K Swim Across Tunisia, honored on RMS Queen Mary , California, Los Angeles on 22 Sept 2012. 8. Belhedi swam, during 2013, 04 dam lakes of Tunisia : Djedliane kasserine , Oued Mallegue, Sidi Salem and Sidi Barrak. 9. On August 17,2013, Belhedi swam between the Diomede Islands in a time of 39 minutes, covering 4 Km in 2°C and making the circuit from Russia to USA in a way different from that swum by Lynne Cox.[1]
