Neptune Towers was a dark ambient side project formed in 1993 by Fenriz of Darkthrone.
Background
Neptune Towers' stated goal was "to enable the listeners to keep both feet off the ground." Fenriz credited Klaus Schulze of Tangerine Dream as a big inspiration. In an interview, Fenriz said he was influenced by Kraftwerk, which can be heard in the use of elaborate sequencers in Transmissions from Empire Algol. Neptune Towers' music was characterized by a slow-paced, minimalistic atmosphere.
