Disney Canada Inc. (formerly New Horizon Interactive, and later Club Penguin Entertainment then Disney Online Studios Canada) is a leisure software company, specialized in producing and maintaining MMOGs. It partnered with RocketSnail Games in making Club Penguin, a site which generated significant revenues and attention.

History

The company became a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company on August 1, 2007 for $350 million.[1][2] New Horizon Interactive achieved growth targets in 2009, and $350 million was added to the existing $350 million, making a total $700 million that Disney had invested into New Horizon Interactive by 2009.

The company dropped the words "Online Studios" from its name[3][4] in 2013.

In late 2012, Club Penguin co-founder Lane Merrifield left Disney Interactive to focus on his family and a new educational product, Freshgrade. Chris Heatherly took Merrifield's former position.[5]
