New York Journal of Books (NYJB), established in 2009, is a free online book review site with hundreds of reviewers.[1] An article on the review site was quoted in The New Yorker online, discussing the purpose of a book review: "The publication of a book is like the proverbial silent tree falling in the forest...and the reviewer's job is to tell the world.".[2] The site has also received press attention from The Daily Beast.[3]
Reviewers are largely traditionally published authors, but also include unpublished professionals who review books in their areas of expertise—a different tack than most highly regarded book reviews.[4] NYJB's diverse panel of reviewers has included National Book Award finalist, Beth Kephart,[5] New York Times bestselling author, William Martin (novelist),[6] Pulitzer-winning journalist and author William Dietrich (novelist),[7] New York Times and USA Today bestselling romance novelist Eloisa James, Aphrodite Jones,[8] Jon Land, and Sam Millar as well as numerous others.[4]
New York Journal of Books was founded by Ted Sturtz and its publisher is Lisa Rojany Buccieri.[4][9]
