Newcastle Coach Station is the coach station serving Newcastle upon Tyne, England.

It is located on St James' Boulevard[1] in the city centre, a five-minute walk from the city's railway station and Central Station on the Tyne and Wear Metro.[2]

The station has five coach bays and its facilities include a booking office, waiting room, staff rest rooms and toilets. Above the bays is a translucent curved canopy roof with a glazed block screen wall.[3]

The station is one of three bus stations in the city, the others being Eldon Square bus station and Haymarket bus station. The Megabus does not stop here, stopping outside Newcastle City Library instead.[4]

History

A planning application for the new coach station was approved by Newcastle City Council on 27 October 2000 in order to replace the run-down Gallowgate Coach Station. Planning permission for a new modern station was granted in October 2001.[3]
