Newsy is a multisource video news service that highlights perspectives from various media outlets and packages them into concise, easy-to-digest news bites.[1] Clips are available on the web, and on mobile and over-the-top content (OTT) platforms. Newsy analyzes how global news organizations (e.g. The New York Times, France 24, NDTV, Xinhua, Fox News Channel, The Guardian, and CNET.com) cover the day's events. Newsy.com's approach embodies a basic principle of comparative journalism: asking the same question to multiple sources and comparing their answers.[2] The site analyzes and features a variety of sources, providing users with a deeper understanding of the news.[3]

Newsy's mobile applications have enjoyed widespread success. Readwrite reported how Newsy's iPad app changed the nature of journalism on the device.[4] Newsy won the 2011 Appy Award beating out CNN and Flipboard in the 'News' category.[5]

The company, acquired by The E.W. Scripps Company, was founded by Jim Spencer who was early to predict the popularity of mobile and multisource video news.[6] The company is headquartered in Columbia, Missouri and partners with the Missouri School of Journalism.

In July 2010, Newsy was recognized as one of the “2010 Hottest Companies in the Midwest” by Lead411.[7] A September 2010 Read Write Web article explains Newsy's next move will be to develop apps for Internet TV.[8]
