Newtownshandrum (Irish: Baile Nua Sheandroma)[1] is a small village in County Cork, Ireland located 6.5 km west of Charleville on the R515 road. Historic maps from 1829-1841 and 1897-1913 identify the village as Newtown.[2]
Education
Shandrum National School is a co-educational primary school located in the village. The school currently has 160 pupils with six mainstream teachers, two special education teachers and three special needs assistants.[3]
Sports
The local Gaelic Athletic Association team is Newtownshandrum GAA Club.
