The next Parliamentary elections in Somalia are scheduled to be held in 2016. It will be the first election since 1967.
Background
The non-elected Federal Parliament of the Transitional Federal Government, sworn in in 2012, is expiring in 2016. According to the President of Somalia, the upcoming election will be free and fair.[1] Although the civil war and division of the country is still ongoing and Al-Shabaab is likely to derail the elections, it is not planned to postpone the elections so far.[2]
