The Nicholls State Colonels softball team represents Nicholls State University in NCAA Division I college softball.[1] The team participates in the Southland Conference. Nicholls State's first softball team was fielded in 1981. The team plays its home games at the 500-seat Colonels Softball Complex and are coached by Angel Santiago.[2]

History

The Colonels's inaugural season was in 1981. Entering the 2015 season, the team's overall record is 998-870-6. Winning four Southland Conference regular season titles (1992, 1994, 1995, 1996) and two Southland Conference Tournament titles (1996 and 1997), the Colonels have appeared in the NCAA Division I Softball Tournament three times (1995, 1996, 1997) with a tournament record of 3-6.[3] The 1987 team appeared in the Women's NIT tournament winning one of three games.
