Nick Lashley

Nick Lashley (born in 1964) is a British producer/songwriter/musician. He is best known for his work with Alanis Morissette and the John Carney film, "Begin Again" starring Adam Levine and Keira Knightley.

Career

British-born producer/songwriter/musician, Nick Lashley, began his career as a guitarist in various bands in the UK - most notably, rock band, King Swamp, who released two albums on Virgin Records. Upon his move to Los Angeles in the early 90s, he immediately began carving out a career as a versatile session player. Nick was introduced to Alanis Morissette in early`95 and subsequently became her lead guitarist from 1995-2001, including her "Jagged Little Pill" period which Nick describes as "a wild ride." Nick and Alanis also co-wrote the song, "No Pressure Over Cappuccino" which appeared on her Unplugged album, and he played guitar on the #1 song, “Uninvited” and many other studio recordings. Since then, Nick has also performed and recorded with an incredibly diverse array of artists including Mick Jagger, Carly Simon, Robbie Robertson, Natasha Bedingfield, Michelle Branch, Carly Simon, Ben Taylor, Lisa Marie Presley, Avril Lavigne and 80`s Pop icons The B-52s. More recently, Nick has adjusted his focus very firmly in the direction of songwriting and production and has co-written and produced such artists as Natasha Bedingfield, Robbie Williams, Ben Taylor, Gregg Alexander (New Radicals), David Archuleta, and Greyson Chance. In 2012, Lashley along with songwriters Danielle Brisebois and Gregg Alexander, co-wrote and co-produced many original songs for the upcoming feature film, “Begin Again,” starring Adam Levine (Maroon 5) Keira Knightley, Mark Ruffalo, Cee Lo Green and Hailee Steinfeld. Two of the songs are performed by Maroon 5's Adam Levine. The film was written and directed by John Carney who is best known for his Oscar-winning film Once (2006). Nick is one of Gregg Alexander's main collaborators.

According to his 2015 biography 'Adrenalized', Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen states Nick was on the shortlist of guitarists to replace Steve Clark in Def leppard after Steve's death in 1991. The position was eventually filled by Vivian Campbell

Personal Life

Nick Lashley lives in Los Angeles with his wife/collaborator, songwriter Danielle Brisebois and their twin daughters, Lola and Charlotte (2013).
