Nicholas "Nick" Jay Rickles (born February 2, 1990) is an American professional baseball catcher who currently in the minor league system for the Washington Nationals. He previously played in the Oakland Athletics organization. Prior to playing professionally, he played college baseball for Stetson University. He has also played in the 2013 World Baseball Classic, for the Israeli national baseball team.

Professional career

Rickles was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the 14th round of the 2011 Major League Baseball Draft. He made his professional debut that season playing for the rookie Arizona League Athletics and Class A (Short-Season) Vermont Lake Monsters. He spent the 2012 season with the Class A Burlington Bees. In 2013, he played for the Class A Beloit Snappers and Double-A Midland RockHounds. He missed the entire 2014 season with a torn labrum,[1] but returned in 2015 with the Class A-Advanced Stockton Ports, Midland, and the Triple-A Nashville Sounds. He was released by the Athletics after the season.

On February 1, 2016, Rickles signed a minor league contract with the Washington Nationals.

Israel national team

Rickles, who is Jewish, played on the Israeli national baseball team during the qualifying round of the 2013 World Baseball Classic.[2]
