Nicole LaLiberte
Nicole LaLiberte is an American actress. She has had recurring roles on the television series How to Make It in America (and Dexter and played a lead role alongside Danielle Panabaker in the film Girls Against Boys.
Career
"With her flaming red hair and personality to match" LaLiberte moved to New York City at age 12, to study ballet as a scholarship recipient for the School of American Ballet.[1] After years as a ballerina, she was “captured” by the fashion industry, and began doing runway shows and posing for various shoots. She has been shot by such acclaimed photographers as Ellen von Unwerth, Terry Richardson and Patrick Demarchelier, has been featured in publications ranging from Vogue to Interview and she has appeared in campaigns for Coach, L'Oreal, Maybelline and Ready to Wear designer Christian Siriano. In 2002, she was featured in the iconic Lavazza Calendar alongside other top models, photographed by David LaChapelle on the Malibu beaches.[2] That same year, her face appeared on the cover of the French magazine Photo.[3] In 2012 she was photographed by Drew Barrymore featuring actresses for a spread in V Magazine‘s “Youthquake” issue featuring Hollywood’s up-and-coming starlets.[4]
LaLiberte began acting in 2007. Vogue Magazine writes "Why she's famous: Her coppery hair and a mischievous smile. And her very feminine silhouette. She’s one of the most promising film stars of her generation".[5]
Her stage debut was in a play directed by Eduardo Machado and written by Michael Domitrovich called Artfuckers which ran Off-Broadway at the DR2 Theatre from 8 February to 16 March 2008.[6] The performers were praised as a "talented group of young actors".[7] and the production was reviewed as "always highly watchable black comedy. A splendid cast and Machado's sharp direction make Artfuckers a cool evening of theatre."[8] Mark Blankenship of Variety singles out LaLiberte writing she "brings believable grit" to her performance."[9]
Her first television appearances were on Law & Order: Criminal Intent and Rescue Me in 2007 and Nurse Jackie in 2009. Her first major small screen role came in 2011, playing the recurring role of Lulu in the second season of HBO's How to Make It in America and the following year as the recurring guest star role of Arlene Schram in Dexter.
In film she made her screen debut in the lead role for the 2009 film My Normal and In 2010 starred in four films: the TV film Superego; the science fiction film Kaboom which premiered at Cannes; the comedy Dinner for Schmucks; and Warhol Superstar Paul Morrissey's new drama News from Nowhere.
In 2011 she also appeared in the drama film Shouting Secrets. Then in 2012 four more films in quick succession: The romantic comedy Wifed Out; in the comedy Nous York; starred alongside Emily Blunt and Colin Firth in Arthur Newman, and playing a lead role in Austin Chick's Girls Against Boys .[10] The press has said about that project: "LaLiberte in particular stands out" and the film is "certainly worth checking out if only to put the terrifying Nicole LaLiberte on your map." [11]
