Niki Volou is a Greek football club based in the city of Volos, in the region of Magnesia. The club currently competes in Superleague, the top tier of Greek football.

Colours and crest

Niki Volou crest displays the goddess Nike as depicted in the statue Winged Victory of Samothrace. The image of the goddess was the original emblem of the Smyrna-based athletic club Panionios, one of the most popular Greek athletic clubs of Ionia, before it was uprooted and re-established in Athens after the Greco-Turkish War. The founding members of Niki Volou FC, many of them refugees from Smyrna (now Izmir) and the surrounding region, decided to restore the emblem as part of their new club.

Supporters

The club's most famous supporters group is the one consisting of members from "Blue Club", fan club established in 1985, the so-called Indians. The fan club is also recognized as "Blue Club Panagiotis Ntokouzis", taken by the name of one of the initial and establishing fan club members who died on a road accident. Another firm, more famous among the majority of Greek ultras, is the "Blue Angels club 1994" established in 1994. The leader of the fans is Nikolay Kunchovski. Fan club's members are in their vast majority the youth of the club's supporters, and the city of Volos itself has fallen victim to hooliganism produced by this firm, as the majority of its members has taken part to various clashes with police alongside anarchist and other groups. Both firms share "Gate 3" entrance to both "P. Magoulas" stadium and "Panthessaliko" stadium. Niki Volos fans are respected among other ultras groups, as they have followed their favorite club in every division of professional football except the first one. Another reason they are liked by most of Greek ultras, is the fact that their rivals' team ex-chairman (now mayor of the city) is Achilleas Mpeos, a man symbolizing football and political corruption, according to many (he was arrested and imprisoned for match fixing).
