Nina Sulaberidze (Georgian: ნინა სულაბერიძე, born 31 January 1995), better known by her stage name Nina Sublatti (Georgian: ნინა სუბლატი), is a Georgian singer, songwriter, calligrapher and model.

Sublatti achieved international attention when she represented Georgia in Eurovision Song Contest 2015 with her song "Warrior", where she placed 11th with 51 points.[2][3] Sublatti won the 2013 season of the Georgian version of Idols.[4][5] In 2016, she became one of the judges of X Factor Georgia.

Sublatti was born to Georgian parents in Moscow, Russia on 31 January 1995. Shortly after her birth, her family moved back to Georgia. Sublatti also lived in Riga, Latvia for a time as a child.[6] In 2008, Sublatti received a contract from a modelling agency and began modelling. In 2011, she began working with the studio Georgian Dream Studio where she collaborated with the singer Bera Ivanishvili.[7] In early 2009, Sublatti was approached by fashion scouts and a modelling agency to model for top magazines. While being a model Sublatti performed across Georgia and contributed with bands.

2013–2014: Sakartvelos Varskvlavi and Dare to Be Nina Sublatti

In 2013, Sublatti was announced as the winner of Sakartvelos Varskvlavi, the Georgian version of Idols. The following year, she released her debut album Dare to Be Nina Sublatti which has become the best-selling album in Georgia of all-time.[7] The album has a length of 35 minutes and 58 seconds with ten songs overall, five of which being covers; the appearing covers featured "Blue Jeans" which was performed by Sublatti on Sakartvelos Varskvlavi and originally recorded by Lana Del Rey. Also on the album featured covers such as Alanis Morissette's "Uninvited"; Sublatti performed "Uninvited" during the grand final of the series.

2014–2015: Eurovision Song Contest 2015

Following the success of Sublatti's debut album in December 2014 she was announced as one of the five contestants competing to represent Georgia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 with the song "Warrior". On 14 January 2015, Sublatti competed in the national finala nd was announced the winner with a large amount of the television vote with it being 38.1% and a score of 21 from the official jury. The public had two weeks to cast their vote for the Georgian singer for the Eurovision with these two weeks spanning from 1st January 2015 to 14th January 2015.[8][3] Subaltti then went onto work on her song; reworking the entry with Swedish composer Thomas G:son and the staging with Swedish choreographer Sacha Jean-Baptiste. She performed "Warrior" at the Eurovision semi-finals on 19 May and advanced to the grand final. In the Semi Final Sublatti came within the Top 5 at 4th place with 98 points. She received a total of 51 points from 12 out of 40 countries and finished at 11th place on the grand final.[9]

Following the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 "Warrior" charted across Europe, in Ireland the entry charted within the Top 50 with it's peak position being 44. In Ukraine Sublatti's song charted at reached the Top 40. In Russia "Warrior" successfully reached the Top 30 charting at a peak position of 29. However despite the chart success in Russia, Ukraine and Ireland Sublatti's single reached a goal chart score in Turkey, with the song charting within the Top 3 at Number 2. Subaltti's Eurovision Song Contest Entry also scored highly on YouTube with over 4 million views. Previously to the Eurovision Song Contest of 2015 Sublatti had a rich and successful chart history; as Sublatti's debut album charted at Number 1 in Georgia and one of her follow-up singles "I've Got And Idea" successfully charted in Turkey, Russia, Poland and Ukraine. With "I've Got An Idea" charting at 112 in Russia, 95 in Ukraine and Poland but the single had the largest success in Turkey where it charted within the Top 20 with the peak position being 14. Sublatti then released several singles following "I've Got An Idea" with the most successful single being "You Call Me Devil". "You Call Me Devil" charted within the Top 80 in Ukraine and Sublatti's chart records continued with success as "You Call Me Devil" charted at Number 30 in Turkey.

2016–present: X Factor Georgia

In 2016, she became a judge on the Georgian version of The X Factor along with Nika Gvaramia, Sofia Nizharadze and Giorgi Gabunia.[10]

Personal life

Sublatti notes her biggest musical influences are Janis Joplin, Brian Molko, and Björk. She has several tattoos on her body, which she sketches herself.[11]
