Nishant "Nish" Kumar is a British stand-up comedian, actor, and radio presenter. He hosts Newsjack on BBC Radio 4 Extra.[1] He has appeared on Have I Got News For You, Virtually Famous, Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled, Russell Howard's Stand Up Central, Sweat the Small Stuff, and The Alternative Comedy Experience.
Career
Nish Kumar performs with Tom Neenan as the double act, Gentlemen of Leisure, having met at Grey College at the University of Durham in 2004 and performed in the Durham Revue. The act was at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2012.[2][3]
He has been performing solo stand-up shows since 2013.[4] Kumar stood in for David Trent at the Charity Chuckle at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2014.
Kumar held a regular spot on the Josh Widdicombe XFM show from 2013 to 2015 where he would present the feature Nishipedia.
In February 2015, Kumar was announced as the host for the twelfth season of the BBC Radio 4 Extra series Newsjack.[1]
Kumar's 2015 Edinburgh was titled 'Long word... Long word... Blah Blah Blah... I'm so clever' and took place at The Pleasance Theatre before a UK tour running from October to December 2015.[5] The show was nominated for an Edinburgh Comedy Award and follows 2014 show Ruminations on the Nature of Subjectivity.[6]
