Noodle, based in New York, NY, is a company that helps students make decisions about education. The company provides expert advice and comprehensive data on more than 700,000 education providers and resources, including preschools, K-12 schools, colleges, graduate programs, tutors, and learning materials. “Noodle is the first of its kind to focus specifically on aggregating information for students and families looking for information on anything from tutors to summer camps to master’s programs.[1]

History

Noodle Education, Inc. was founded in 2010 by John Katzman, the Founder of The Princeton Review and 2U, and developed by veterans from the worlds of education and technology, including leaders from Kaplan, Kumon, and Colloquy.

Noodle launched its public beta in January 2013, and came out of beta on August 4, 2014.

Reception

During the year following its public beta, Noodle gained attention from several general interest, education, and technology publications and websites, including “One of the greatest disruptive tech startups” from Forbes, “Top startup transforming online education from Mashable,”[2] and one of three EdTech Companies Changing the Campus Experience by EdCetera.[3]

NPR recognized the company for its consumer-friendly approach to college ratings and Forbes dubbed it the "Google of ed search."
