The Northwest Washington Synod (ELCA) is a synod, or diocese, of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). It encompasses the northwestern part of the state of Washington and supports congregational mission throughout the region.

In 2001 the Rev. William Chris Boerger was elected as Bishop of the synod. He also serves as an officer of the synod council which is the governing body of the synod between assemblies. It is composed of the Bishop and 27 members elected from each of the 12 synodical geographic regions called clusters. There are one-hundred and eighteen Lutheran congregations in the synod.[1]

The ELCA has partnered its synods with other regions throughout the world and the companion synods for Northwest Washington are the Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus and The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Central Asia, also known as the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Russia and Other States (ELCROS).[2]
