Norwegian Joy, previously named Norwegian Bliss[3] is a cruise ship under construction for Norwegian Cruise Line, due to enter service in March 2017. She is being built by Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany.[4]

Being a component of Norwegian's Breakaway Plus Class, Norwegian Bliss was described as a sister ship to the Norwegian Escape, which is scheduled for completion in October 2015.[5] Both of the ships' names were selected through an online contest hosted by Norwegian Cruise line.[4] The construction of Norwegian Bliss started on September 16, 2015.[6]

It was announced on October 12, 2015 that the ship will be reintroduced and designed specifically for the Chinese market, her new name, homeport, accommodations, dining and entertainment will be shared in the coming months.[3] It has been reported that she will visit Dubai on her re-positioning cruise to China, other ports of call on her maiden cruise have yet to be confirmed.[7] The keel was layed on 5 April 2016.
