Nothing Rhymed is a song by the Irish singer-songwriter Gilbert O'Sullivan.
It was released in October 1970. It peaked at number 30 in the US, number 8 in the UK and number 1 in the Netherlands.
Significance
The song was popular on both sides of the Atlantic. It broke O'Sullivan into popular music, and allowed him to immediately become a full-time musician, which he was not before this momentous record.
Musical structure
The song is revered for its well-composed backing orchestration, which does not detract from the song itself. The lyrics, for a pop song, have quite a deep significance.
