The Large Dark Prominent (Notodonta torva) is a moth of the Notodontidae family. It is found in most of Europe (although it is a very rare immigrant Great Britain), east to the China, Korea and Japan.

The wingspan is about 48 mm. Adults are on wing from the end of April to August in two generations in western Europe.

The larvae mainly feed on Populus species (including Populus tremula and Populus nigra) and Salix species (including Salix caprea, Salix cinerea and Salix phylicifolia). Larvae can be found in June and again from August to September. The species overwinters in the pupal stage.
