Nova Airlines AB, operating as Novair, is an airline headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden.[1] It operates charter flights to the Mediterranean and the Canary Islands, as well as long-haul flights to Thailand, India and Indonesia. As of winter 2013, the airline also operates long-haul flights to the Dominican Republic, Mexico and Cuba. Its main base and hub of operations is Stockholm-Arlanda Airport,[2] but the airline also operates from Gothenburg-Landvetter Airport and Oslo Airport, Gardermoen using them as secondary hubs.[3]
History
Novair was established and started operations in November 1997 with services from Stockholm to Phuket, Thailand and the Canary Islands of Spain on behalf of Apollo, a Swedish travel agency. Since 1997, the airline has operated several different types of aircraft, including Boeing 737-300, Boeing 737-800NG, Airbus A330 and Lockheed L-1011 TriStar. Between 2007-2011, the airline had also leased an Airbus A330 from Orbest and Air Europa. As of January 2001, the company is wholly owned by Kuoni Travel Group and have about 330 employees.[2] In June 2015 Kuoni Travel sold Novair and other departments of its company to the German Rewe Group. Independent from this sale it was decided to close the Gothenburg base in March 2016 and return one of the three Airbus A321 in the following month. In March 2016, the airline chartered an Airbus A320 from Titan Airways.
Destinations
Novair operates flights mainly from Stockholm-Arlanda Airport, Oslo Airport, Gardermoen and Gothenburg-Landvetter Airport to charter destinations on behalf of Apollo. The destinations vary depending on season. During the summer, Novair operate routes between Scandinavia and the Mediterranean and during the winter routes between Scandinavia and the Canary Islands, Asia and the Caribbean.
Fleet
Novair offers two types of travel classes on its flights: Economy Class and Novair Extra, equivalent to short/medium-haul type Economy Extra/Business Class.
