Nuevos Ministerios Location within Madrid |
Nuevos Ministerios is a large underground station in Madrid serving lines C-1, C-2, C-3, C-4, C-7, C-8 and C-10 of the regional commuter railways. It openend in 1967. In 1979 it also became a metro station and currently serves 6, 8 and 10 of the Madrid Metro.
The station featured a large and unique complex where passengers could check in for selected flights from Madrid Airport, and then board a train to the Airport, and not have to check in there. That service was abandoned though in 2006 for security reasons. The station complex features pictures of the city of Madrid on the walls. It also features a police station within its underground premises, dedicated to surveillance and passenger attention within the Metro system. Transfer between Lines 6 & 8 & 10 is possible at this station.
