Allegations of Match Fixing

The Sunday Times carried out a sting operation on a Delhi based bookie based on some allegations that the ICC World Cup 2011 semi-final between India and Pakistan was fixed. A Hindi film actress was indicated to have been used to lure cricketers. An image with a blurred face was published in the newspaper with a report claiming that match-fixing is rampant in international cricket and UK's domestic county as well. The image seems to be of Nupur. She however has denied such claims.[5] She is considering to sue the British Paper.[6] After this controversy, it was reported that Nupur has been approached by Bigg Boss for its upcoming season. On 11 June 2012, Nupur Mehta was questioned by ICC's anti-corruption officer Alan Peacock in Mumbai.[7] During the time of the allegations, she claims to have been involved in a relationship with Sri Lankan cricketer Tillakaratne Dilshan.[8][9]

Geetika Sharma suicide case

Nupur Mehta was named in Geetika Sharma's suicide note along with her friend Ankita.[10] It is also learnt that all the three worked for a common employer Gopal Goyal Kanda, who happens to be an Indian politician, as well as the main accused in the Geethika Sharma suicide case. Incidentally, Geethika had complained with the Goa police against Nupur and Ankita about stealing her bag on September 20, 2009.
